Hello & Thank You for Visiting Us!
An invitation to contribute to the ….Community, Caring, and Citizenship Drive 2008
We are all part of a wonderful community of people who support many worthy causes. A few of the events supporting these causes were to have occurred on June 7, 2008 including Summit Supports Our Troops’, Tribute to the Troops & Their Families. In order not to detract from any of these other charitable events, we have decided not to hold a gala this year. The interest and support of our loyal friends, as well as new friends, remains critical to achieving our mission. We are asking you to please consider making a donation at this time to continue our work serving the Troops and to expand our services.
With your support we will be able to reach our goals which are:
To provide education and support to children and families of deployed Troops via in-person and web-based programs. To ensure that our newest veterans receive every benefit they have earned through one-to-one partnering with the SSOT organization. To encourage and be a model for towns across the country to support THEIR Troops through the Hometowns Support
Our Troops program.
Our commitment to the Troops continues through war and peace, and we need your continued support to fulfill our mission together.Thank youRespectfully,BOARD OF DIRECTORS

What makes SSOT unique among the many groups serving our military?
1. Summit Supports Our Troops develops a relationship with each Troop from Summit who is actively serving in the United States Armed Forces. We grow that relationship with our first and most important message, "Thank you for serving us. We are so very proud of you."
2. The Community/Command Support Model. We collaborate with the officers of each Troop's unit when they deploy. This connection allows us to serve whole units in the best way possible. We send what they want, when they want it. The officers and units trust the Summit SUPPORTS OUR TROOPS label.
3. Every mailing is approved by SSOT volunteer staff.
"In my 18 years of service, I have never witnessed such an outpouring from one community. "
Colonel Scott Spellmon, U. S. Army
A Call to Action
Every town in America should know who among their midst has answered the call to serve the country in the armed forces.
Every town in America should then offer their gratitude and support.
HOmetown Supports Our Troops (HOST) Model
# 1. Find the names of all the active Troops from your town. This is a word of mouth project. Put a request in your local paper, start asking everyone, "Do you know someone who is serving our country in the uniformed services. Give me/us their names. I/We want to support them".
# 2. Contact each Troop, their parents, spouses or other family and friends. Express your gratitude. Ask them what you can do to encourage them, to make them more comfortable, or to ease their burdens.
# 3. Give it to them!
The simple act of saying, "We know you are serving our country. Thank you," makes an enormous difference in the life and service of the men and women who serve. When a hometown says "thank you for serving us" they bridge the gap between the Troop and the people they serve. The Troop feels recognized and is encouraged ..
Imagine if every town in the country knew who was serving the country and expressed their appreciation, in some small way. Imagine the pride of your. Imagine the morale of our Troops. Do it!
HOST Model Options
- Support Troops from the entire country, through your hometown Troops. Ask how many Troops each hometown Troop would like to have you support.
Employ the community/command support model which requires the leaders of HSOT to establish relationships with officers of each unit served and their family support networks. This ensures that the donations are "the right items at the right time" and you avoid creating waste or burden for the Troops.
Maintain support for deployed Troops and their units throughout their deployment and with stateside Troops throughout their service.
Honor the Troops when they return home.
Adhere to a security policy designed to protect the Troops while conducting activities.
- Support the families.
7. Increase the awareness of the children and adults of the experience of the Troops who are serving them with their lives and of their families who endure their deployments.
8. Provide an opportunity for people to fulfill their obligation as citizens to actively support and advocate for the Troops.Honor a special Troop, veteran, hero, or friend with a donation in their honor.
