YOUTH PROGRAMS
Your school, scout, youth group can also get involved in helping
SSOT. Benefits of Getting Involved
Develops a relationship between service members their families
from the town and the civilian children and families who live here.
Assists students/youth in understanding that men and women in uniform
are among their neighbors and they have families and a special
job.
Enables the Troops to recognize that children from their hometowns
are learning about their service to the country.
How You Can Get Your Group Involved:
We can offer your school, scout, or youth group assistance
in developing a program appropriate to a particular grade level—including
how to adopt a Troop. Some examples of other service projects include:
Elementary School letter writing to the Troops, 6th grade Community,
Caring and Citizenship project, high school – cell phone
collection, Collection drives at your school for items of need.
SSOT can provide your group with age appropriate information about
the military and the Troops and facilitate the distribution of
any letters and packages that may be collected.
SSOT can arrange to have a Troop visit with your organization—depending
on the availability of both the Troop member and your group.
This has been a very successful way to provide a personal connection
and helps demystify what it means to be a service member.
